A large police operation was carried out on the morning of Thursday, March 5, in a Roma settlement neighboring the Ano Liosia bus depot, with the participation of police forces, services of the Municipality of Fyli, and the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDHE).
The operation resulted in 12 arrests under the flagrante delicto procedure for electricity theft, as well as 75 disconnections of illegal electricity connections directly linked to the Public Power Corporation (DEI) grid. At the same time, authorities cut off, seized, and dismantled 1,650 meters of illegal cables that had been connected directly to the electricity network.
During the same operation, 53 cases of water theft were recorded, while dozens of fines for traffic violations were issued in the areas of Ano Liosia and Zefyri. The list of violations also includes illegal occupation of roads and pointless waste of large quantities of water.
The operation involved a drone, a MAT riot police unit, a special mediator, a trained police dog, as well as forces from the Western Attica Police Directorate and the Western Attica Security Sub-Directorate, in cooperation with employees of DEDDHE.
