Three unknown photographs from a newly acquired collection showing scenes from a World War II Nazi atrocity in occupied Athens were presented by the Culture Ministry to the press Thursday.
The grainy black and white photos show the moment a German firing squad shoots a line of hostages during May 1, 1944 reprisals for an attack on occupation forces by the Greek Resistance, and the bodies of the dead.
The latter two pictures are not being made public yet, ministry officials said, out of respect for the families of the as yet unidentified dead.
