Giorgos Fragkoulis proposed to his partner Aryna Sabalenka

Giorgos Fragkoulis proposed to his partner Aryna Sabalenka

With a sparkling solitaire in a romantic setting, Giorgos Fragkoulis made the long-awaited marriage proposal to Aryna Sabalenka, who of course said yes, and the couple are expected to marry soon.

In a joint Instagram post, without many words, the Belarusian tennis star and the Greek businessman announced they are getting married. "You and me forever. March 3, 2026," they wrote.

The video shows Giorgos Fragkoulis arranging a scene filled with pink and white flowers and numerous candles to create a romantic atmosphere for the big question to his partner, who appeared emotional.

The 27-year-old Belarusian athlete is currently in the best form of her life, consistently ranking No. 1 in the WTA world rankings. In her career, she has won a total of 22 titles and earned (from tournaments alone) more than $46 million.

In recent years, having proven her worth on the court and rarely finding a rival, she has developed a particularly outgoing persona, unusual in tennis. She produces a great deal of social media content and is also friends with Stefanos Tsitsipas' former partner, Paula Badosa, with whom she posts many videos.

At the beginning of January, after winning the Brisbane tournament in Australia, Sabalenka thanked the organizers and then turned to her partner, Giorgos Fragkoulis. "I want to say thank you to my partner and I hope soon I'll be calling him something else," she said, adding: "Let's put some extra pressure, okay?" He smiled and, as it seemed, got the message.

However, the "bells" had started ringing months earlier, after a US Open match at Louis Armstrong Stadium. Sabalenka was playing Leylah Fernandez when the stadium screen showed a spectator proposing to his partner. After her victory, she revealed she was moved and sent a message to her boyfriend.

"I think it's the first time someone proposed during one of my matches. It was a very sweet moment, but I was trying not to start smiling because it's very cute and I believe they are very happy right now. I was just trying to stay focused on my game. It was a wonderful moment, and as I said on court, I wish them a happy marriage," she initially commented. When asked if she hoped "someone else in the audience got ideas," the Belarusian replied: "I don't want that kind of proposal. But I looked at my boyfriend. Yes. No pressure."

The couple first appeared together in April 2024, one month after the tragic and untimely death of Sabalenka's former boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov, who died by suicide in March 2024.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine in August 2024, Sabalenka spoke openly about how Fragkoulis was her greatest source of support while she tried to overcome her grief. "It was a very difficult period, and I was very happy to have him by my side, always encouraging me, always making sure we did something fun," she said.

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and originally from Thessaloniki, Giorgos Fragkoulis studied law at FAAP (Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado) in 2014, as he told Forbes Brazil in July 2023. However, he added that he did not complete his degree or take the Brazilian bar exam. "I always knew I wouldn't become a lawyer," he said. "What I really wanted was to become an entrepreneur."

He then founded Oakberry. The brand is connected to his Brazilian roots, as its main ingredient, açaí berries, is harvested in the Amazon rainforest. "Açaí as a fruit exists only thanks to the survival culture of the communities living along the rivers in the Amazon rainforest," Fragkoulis told Forbes Brazil in June 2023.

He founded Oakberry, a superfoods brand specializing in açaí products, in December 2016. The brand quickly gained popularity for its açaí bowls and smoothies and expanded rapidly, with more than 700 stores in over 40 countries. The company raised $67 million in funding at the end of 2023, strengthening its position as a leading force in the superfoods market. Since 2024 it has also operated in Greece. Speaking to newmoney.gr, he stated: "I am Greek, so there was no way I would do business in 45 countries and not include Greece. Even if I were losing money here—which I'm not—I wouldn't leave it out. I consider myself 100% Greek."

In January 2024, Sabalenka became an ambassador for Oakberry. "She is an excellent example for the future of tennis and we are working closely with her to create some truly exciting things in the coming years," Fragkoulis had said at the time. In an August 2024 interview, Sabalenka shared how much she appreciates the creative element of her collaboration with Oakberry.

Throughout their relationship, Fragkoulis has been a constant supporter of the professional tennis player. He is often seen at her matches, cheering her on during critical moments. They first appeared together during the Mutua Madrid Open in April 2024, where the 27-year-old was a finalist.

Fragkoulis is also there to support her when matches do not go as planned and to provide some comic relief. After Sabalenka lost the 2025 Australian Open to Madison Keys, the Greek businessman posted a photo of them together with Jackie Chan on Instagram, writing: "At least we met Jackie Chan (who is very cool)."

In addition to his career as an entrepreneur, Fragkoulis is a motorsports enthusiast, having competed in 128 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge races, according to Driver Database. "Getting into the car and racing is one of the few moments when nothing else matters," he has said.

He is also a shareholder of the French team Le Mans, along with several other personalities, including Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
