Former Greece and Panathinaikos soccer manager Vassilis Daniil has died aged 87.
The Greek soccer federation and Panathinaikos both expressed their condolences Wednesday.
Daniil coached the national squad between 1999 and 2001, when he was succeeded by German "King" Otto Rehhagel, who guided Greece to its astonishing Euro 2004 victory.
The two were also near-contemporaries at the coach academy in Cologne, Germany, where Rehhagel graduated a year after Daniil.
Daniil managed Greece for 30 games, winning 14, drawing eight and losing eight.
